Feathers and Friends Wildlife Rehab Center, Ltd (Feathers and Friends) has been established to respond to  injured and orphaned wildlife and animals in the Southern Maryland area. Feathers and Friends licensed rehabbers and volunteers dedicate themselves to the goal of providing for the well-being of native wildlife.

Feathers and Friends relies on the financial support of the community to carry out its mission. Support comes from individual and corporate donations, grants, bequests, program fees and revenue from fundraising events.

One of the mot rewarding way to give to Feathers and Friends is through your Will or you Liviang Trust. These gifts provide critical support for the future of the organization and its mission of serving native wildlife.

How to Give

There are several types of bequests:

Specific Bequest: You can name Feathers and Friends  the direct beneficiary of a stated amount of money, or a stated percentage of your estate:

        “I give, devise and bequeath to Feathers and Friends Wildlife Rehab Center, Ltd the sum of _____ dollars to be used…. (for general purposes, for a specific program, solely for the care of a specific species (birds, small mammals, water fowl etc.)”

Residuary Bequest: You can designate Feathers and Friends to receive all or a portion of the remainder of your estate once all specific bequests to others have been satisfied:

        “All the rest, residue and remainder of my estate, both real and personal property of whatever and wheresoever situated, which I may own or have the right to dispose of at the time of my decease, I give, device and bequeath to Feathers and Friends Wildlife Rehab Center, Ltd.”

Contingent Bequest: Often, individuals provide that assets should go to family membes or friends. However, it is important o provide for a contingent beneficiary to receive assets in case your named individual beneficiaries do not survive you:?

       “In the case of failure or lapse of any legacy or device herein such that the property so bequeathed would otherwise pass to intestacy, I give, device….”      

Use of Gifts

You can either specify a particular use for your bequest or leave it unrestricted. Under almost all circumstances, your gift to Feathers and Friends will benefit wildlife the most if you give without restrictions. With an unrestricted donation, our Board of Directors and staff are free to use your gift to meet the most pressing needs at the time, in order to accomplish the most good for native wildlife. If you prefer to restrict your gift however, and wish to discuss your decision with someone from Feathers and Friends , please feel free to contact us.

For gifts that will take effect after your life-time, Feathers and Friends should be named as:
